Mech Core: Survivor Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last 20 hours playing Mech Core: Survivor and I'm still trying to process my thoughts about it. I went into the game with pretty high expectations, I mean who doesn't love mech games, right? The premise is simple, you're a mech pilot who's crash-landed on some hostile alien planet and you have to survive by scavenging for parts, fighting off hostile creatures, and building your own mech from scratch. It sounds awesome on paper, but the execution is a bit of a mixed bag.
The first thing I noticed when I started playing was how clunky the controls feel. I'm not sure if it's just me, but it took me a while to get used to the way the mech moves and handles. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not as smooth as some of the other mech games I've played. The graphics are also a bit of a letdown, they're not bad by any means, but they're not exactly cutting edge either. The environments are pretty generic and the mech designs, while cool, are not particularly original. That being said, the sound design is actually really good, the sound effects and music are top notch and really help to immerse you in the game.
One of the things that really drew me to Mech Core: Survivor was the survival mechanics. I love games that challenge me to scavenge for resources and craft my own gear, and this game delivers on that front. The crafting system is pretty deep and complex, and it's really satisfying to build your own mech from scratch. The problem is, the survival aspects of the game are a bit too punishing. I found myself dying over and over again because I didn't have the right gear or resources, and it got pretty frustrating. I'm not sure if the game is just too hard, or if I'm just not good at it, but it felt like I was being held back by the game's mechanics rather than being challenged in a fun way.
Despite my frustrations with the game, I have to say that I'm still having a lot of fun playing it. There's something really satisfying about building your own mech and taking it out for a spin, and the combat is actually really enjoyable. The game has a lot of potential, and I can see why some people might really love it. However, I think it needs a bit more polish and refinement before it can reach its full potential. The developers seem to be actively supporting the game, so maybe some of these issues will get addressed in future updates. For now, I'd say that Mech Core: Survivor is a solid, if not spectacular, game that's worth checking out if you're a fan of mech games or survival mechanics.
As I played through the game, I started to notice some other issues that detracted from my experience. The game's storyline is pretty thin, and the characters are not particularly well-developed. The game's world also feels a bit empty and lifeless, there's not much to explore or discover, and the environments start to feel repetitive after a while. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice to see a bit more attention paid to these aspects of the game in the future. Overall, I'd say that Mech Core: Survivor is a game that's worth keeping an eye on, but it's not quite there yet.
Overall, I'd recommend Mech Core: Survivor to fans of mech games and survival mechanics, but with some caveats. The game has a lot of potential, but it needs a bit more work before it can reach its full potential. If you're willing to overlook some of the game's flaws and frustrations, you might find yourself having a lot of fun with it. However, if you're looking for a more polished and refined experience, you might want to wait and see how the game develops in the future.
