Stickman: Hooks Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Stickman: Hooks and I've got to say, it's a pretty addictive game. At first, I was a bit skeptical - I mean, it's just a stick figure swinging from hooks, right? But once I started playing, I realized there's actually a lot more to it than that. The gameplay is surprisingly smooth and the controls are really intuitive, which is great because it makes it easy to pick up and play.
One of the things that really drew me in was the level design. The levels are all pretty short, which is perfect for a mobile game, and they're all really creative. You'll find yourself swinging through cities, jungles, and even outer space, and each level has its own unique obstacles and challenges. Some of them can be really tough, too - I found myself retrying some levels a dozen times or more before I finally beat them. But the good news is that the game never feels frustratingly hard, just challenging enough to keep you coming back for more.
Now, I do have to say that the graphics aren't exactly mind-blowing. I mean, it's a stick figure game, so you're not going to be blown away by the visuals. But at the same time, the game has a certain charm to it that makes up for the simplicity of the graphics. The sound design is also pretty great - the music is catchy and the sound effects are all really satisfying. And let's be real, who doesn't love the sound of a stick figure yelling as he falls to his death?
As I kept playing, I started to notice that the game has a pretty great sense of progression. As you complete levels, you'll earn coins that you can use to unlock new characters and upgrades, which is a great way to keep the game feeling fresh. And the best part is that none of the upgrades feel like they're totally necessary - you can still beat the game without them, but they're nice to have. I also appreciate that the game doesn't try to nickel and dime you with in-app purchases - everything is available to unlock with the coins you earn in-game.
One thing that might be a turn-off for some people is the repetition. I mean, you're basically doing the same thing - swinging from hook to hook - for the entire game. And while the levels are all different, it can start to feel a little same-y after a while. But for me, the game's charm and addictive gameplay were enough to keep me coming back, even when it started to feel a little repetitive. And hey, if you're the kind of person who loves games like this, you'll probably find that the repetition is actually a plus - it's just more of the same addictive gameplay that you love.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Stickman: Hooks to anyone who's looking for a fun, casual game to play on their phone. It's not going to blow you away with its graphics or story, but the gameplay is addictive and the level design is really creative. And who knows - you might find yourself, like me, spending hours swinging through levels and trying to beat your high score. It's a great way to pass the time, and it's definitely a game that I'll be coming back to again and again.
