Wrestling Revolution Arena Review & Gameplay Guide
I've been playing Wrestling Revolution Arena for a while now, and I have to say, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I love the fact that it's a wrestling game that you can play on your phone - it's super convenient and the portability is great. I can just pick up my phone and start playing whenever I've got some downtime, whether that's on my commute or during a break at work. The gameplay itself is also pretty fun - the controls are simple but effective, and it's easy to get the hang of pulling off different moves and combos.
One thing that I do appreciate about Wrestling Revolution Arena is the level of customization you can do. You can create your own wrestlers, choosing everything from their appearance to their move set, and even create your own storylines and feuds. This adds a lot of depth to the game and makes it feel more immersive - I love being able to create my own characters and see them succeed (or fail) in the ring. The game also has a pretty robust online mode, where you can compete against other players in real-time. This is a great way to test your skills and see how you stack up against other players.
However, there are a few things that hold Wrestling Revolution Arena back from being a truly great game. For one, the graphics are pretty dated - the character models and arenas look like they're from a PS2 game, which is a bit disappointing. The sound design is also pretty lacking - the commentary is repetitive and annoying, and the crowd noise is just a generic, looping sound effect. These aren't deal-breakers, but they do take away from the overall experience of the game.
Another issue I have with Wrestling Revolution Arena is the in-app purchases. Now, I'm not opposed to paying for games or DLC - I think it's fair to support developers who create great content. But in this case, the in-app purchases feel a bit predatory. You can buy in-game currency, which is used to unlock new characters, moves, and other content. But the problem is that the game is designed to encourage you to spend money - you'll often find yourself running low on currency, and the only way to progress is to buy more. This feels like a cheap trick, and it's frustrating when you're trying to play the game without breaking out your wallet.
Despite these issues, I still find myself coming back to Wrestling Revolution Arena. There's just something about the gameplay that's addictive - I love the feeling of pulling off a perfect combo, or hitting a finishing move to win a match. And the customization options are so deep that I can always find something new to do, whether that's creating a new wrestler or starting a new storyline. So while Wrestling Revolution Arena may not be perfect, it's still a fun game that's worth checking out - just be aware of the in-app purchases, and try not to get too sucked in.
Overall, I'd recommend Wrestling Revolution Arena to fans of wrestling games or anyone looking for a fun, casual game to play on their phone. It's not a perfect game, but it's got a lot of heart and a lot of potential. With a bit more polish and some tweaks to the monetization model, this could be a truly great game. As it stands, it's still a fun way to pass the time and indulge your inner wrestling fan - just don't expect too much in terms of graphics or sound design.
