Epic Robot Combat Simulator Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last few hours playing Epic Robot Combat Simulator and I've got to say, it's been a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I love the concept of building and customizing my own robots to take into battle - it's like a dream come true for anyone who's ever played with Legos or watched robot fights on TV. The game definitely delivers on that front, with a huge array of parts and components to choose from, and a pretty intuitive building system that lets you get creative with your designs.

But on the other hand, the actual combat in the game is kind of a letdown. The controls are a bit wonky, and it can be hard to get your robot to do what you want it to do. I found myself getting frustrated more than once when my robot would get stuck on a piece of scenery or refuse to turn in the direction I wanted it to. And the AI isn't exactly the most challenging opponent - I was able to beat most of the early levels without even breaking a sweat, and it wasn't until I got to the later levels that things started to get a bit more challenging.

One thing that did impress me, though, was the game's physics engine. When you're in the middle of a battle and your robot gets smashed to pieces, it's really satisfying to see the individual components go flying in all directions. And the game's destructible environments are a lot of fun to play around with - I spent way too much time just smashing my robot into walls and watching the debris fly everywhere. It's not exactly the most mature or sophisticated gameplay, maybe, but it's definitely entertaining.

I'm also a bit disappointed in the game's multiplayer mode. I was looking forward to taking my robots online and battling it out with other players, but the matchmaking system is kind of clunky and it can take a while to find a match. And when you do finally get into a battle, it's not always clear what's going on - the game could definitely use some better UI and feedback to help you keep track of what's happening. Still, when it does work, it's a lot of fun - there's nothing quite like the thrill of taking down another player's robot in a heated battle.

Despite its flaws, I can see myself coming back to Epic Robot Combat Simulator again and again. The game's got a certain charm to it, and the building and customization aspects are just so much fun. I'm hoping that the developers will continue to support the game with updates and new content, because with a bit more polish and refinement, this could be a really great game. As it is, I'd still recommend it to fans of robot combat or sandbox games - just be aware that you might encounter a few rough edges along the way.

Overall, I'd give Epic Robot Combat Simulator a solid 7 out of 10. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for something a bit different. With a bit more work, I could see this game becoming a real classic - and even in its current state, it's still a great way to spend an afternoon smashing robots and having a good time.
