Run Forrest Run Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last hour playing Run Forrest Run and I've got to say, it's a bit of a mixed bag. I went into it thinking it was going to be a super simple endless runner, and in a lot of ways that's exactly what it is. You play as Forrest Gump, and you've got to run through levels collecting coins and power-ups while avoiding obstacles. It's not exactly a new or original concept, but I was hoping the licensed theme would make it stand out a bit more.

The first thing I noticed when I started playing was how smooth the controls are. Forrest moves really fluidly, and the game does a great job of keeping up with your inputs. It's really easy to time your jumps and slides, which is good because you'll need to be pretty precise to make it through the tougher levels. The graphics are also pretty nice, with some great animations and environments that really fit the Forrest Gump theme. I especially loved the little touches, like the sound effects and music, which really add to the overall atmosphere of the game.

But despite the smooth controls and nice graphics, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. The levels all start to feel pretty samey after a while, and there's not a whole lot of variety in terms of gameplay. You've got your standard running levels, and then a few special levels like the football or army levels, but even those start to feel like more of the same after a while. I also found myself getting really frustrated with the difficulty curve, which seems to spike way up out of nowhere. One minute you're cruising along, the next you're slamming into obstacles and dying constantly. It's not the most fun experience, let me tell you.

I'm also not a huge fan of the way the game handles power-ups and upgrades. You can collect coins to buy new outfits and accessories for Forrest, but they don't really do anything except give you a bit of extra style. And the power-ups, like the football or the army helmet, are really only useful in specific situations. It feels like they should be more integrated into the gameplay, you know? Like, maybe the football could give you a temporary speed boost, or the helmet could make you invincible for a few seconds. As it is, they just feel like kind of a gimmick.

Overall, I'd say Run Forrest Run is a decent but not great endless runner. If you're a huge fan of the movie, you might get a kick out of it, but for everyone else it's probably not worth the download. It's just too samey and repetitive, and the lack of variety in terms of gameplay gets old after a while. That being said, it's not like it's a bad game or anything - it's just not particularly memorable or engaging. If you're looking for a fun endless runner, I'd probably recommend something like Temple Run or Subway Surfers instead.

I think what really kills Run Forrest Run for me is just how much potential it had. I mean, the Forrest Gump license is a great one, and with a bit more creativity and attention to detail, this could have been a really awesome game. As it is, it just feels like a bit of a cash-grab, like the developers were trying to make a quick buck off the movie's popularity without really putting in the effort to make a good game. It's a shame, because I was really looking forward to playing this, and I ended up being kind of disappointed. Maybe with some updates or a sequel, they can turn it around and make it into the game it should have been.
